Posted in RapidTV News on July 10, 2013 – Amino Communications has added enhanced multiscreen capability to its Aminet IPTV STB range when running on key partner The Minerva Platform video service management platform.

Amino is one of Minerva’s longest standing partners, the two working closely in a number of regions including North America, Latin America and Europe, covering over 150 IPTV deployments worldwide since 2003.

The A140 and A540 HD devices have now been fully certified with version 5.4 of the Minerva 5.4 client to create a platform that will enable operators to deliver an enhanced multiscreen experience that can offer linear and on-demand video services to a range of iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. In addition, Minerva intends to allow pay-TV subscribers to use these companion screen devices to search for their favourite content and then play it on their main television screen via a unified user interface.

Other new features include network recording for content streamed via HLS and improved integration of Twitter feeds with on-screen viewing. Improvements have also been made to video-on-demand (VOD) management to simplify multi-region service offerings management.

“Amino worked closely with us to ensure the new The Minerva Platform client features work seamlessly on their Aminet set-top boxes,” said Mauro Bonomi, CEO of Minerva. “We continue to collaborate with Amino to deliver converged pay-TV solutions that allow our customers to differentiate their services in an increasingly competitive market.”

Added Amino CEO Donald McGarva: “Our long-standing relationship with Minerva goes back to the very start of IPTV. This latest certification will enhance our proposition to operators, combining new functionality plus the industry leading HLS capability and high quality our customers expect from Amino devices.”
