Minerva Unveils Suite of Turnkey Multiscreen Clients Under the YourTV Brand

Amsterdam, Netherlands – Minerva Networks, a leading provider of software solutions for the delivery of television services to broadband connected devices, unveiled a complete suite of multiscreen clients under the YourTV brand.  In conjunction with the latest release of the Company’s Minerva service management platform, the new multiscreen clients enable operators to deliver a compelling and ubiquitous pay TV experience to their subscribers. The YourTV clients will be available for Android touch devices through Google Play, as well as for iOS devices through Apple’s iTunes App store.  Browser-based YourTV clients will also be available for PC’s and Mac’s. Pay TV operators deploying The Minerva Platform and the new YourTV client suite will be able to support both companion screen applications as well as a full multiscreen playback experience without the overhead of developing, submitting, and maintaining custom applications across multiple mobile platforms. Subscribers will be able to control their set-top box, manage DVR recordings, view the EPG and VOD storefront, and, if enabled, watch live and on demand content through the YourTV clients. “Many operators are looking for a simple and cost effective solution to deliver a multiscreen experience to their subscribers,” said Eric Freund, Director of Product Marketing at Minerva. “We believe the YourTV clients, along with the latest version of our The Minerva Platform, provide best-of-breed features that will allow service providers to maintain a competitive advantage in the markets they serve.” In addition to the new YourTV suite, Minerva will continue to support customization across its full line of Clients for operators wishing to deliver fully branded and localized applications. Minerva Certifies Amino IPTV STB Range

Posted in RapidTV News on July 10, 2013 – Amino Communications has added enhanced multiscreen capability to its Aminet IPTV STB range when running on key partner The Minerva Platform video service management platform.

Amino is one of Minerva’s longest standing partners, the two working closely in a number of regions including North America, Latin America and Europe, covering over 150 IPTV deployments worldwide since 2003.

The A140 and A540 HD devices have now been fully certified with version 5.4 of the Minerva 5.4 client to create a platform that will enable operators to deliver an enhanced multiscreen experience that can offer linear and on-demand video services to a range of iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. In addition, Minerva intends to allow pay-TV subscribers to use these companion screen devices to search for their favourite content and then play it on their main television screen via a unified user interface.

Other new features include network recording for content streamed via HLS and improved integration of Twitter feeds with on-screen viewing. Improvements have also been made to video-on-demand (VOD) management to simplify multi-region service offerings management.

“Amino worked closely with us to ensure the new The Minerva Platform client features work seamlessly on their Aminet set-top boxes,” said Mauro Bonomi, CEO of Minerva. “We continue to collaborate with Amino to deliver converged pay-TV solutions that allow our customers to differentiate their services in an increasingly competitive market.”

Added Amino CEO Donald McGarva: “Our long-standing relationship with Minerva goes back to the very start of IPTV. This latest certification will enhance our proposition to operators, combining new functionality plus the industry leading HLS capability and high quality our customers expect from Amino devices.”

Minerva Latest to License Comcast RDK

It’s been a big week for RDK, with 20 members of the Reference Design Kit community showing off their wares at the Cable Show. Among all the demos is some news. Minerva, a provider of software solutions for the delivery of TV services over broadband networks, secured a license from Comcast to develop against Comcast’s RDK.

The agreement lets Minerva integrate its The Minerva Platform client with the RDK software stack, so that ops can shorten the introduction of new interactive pay-TV services. Last week, Hillcrest Labs announced it was the first motion control technology provider to license the RDK software stack from Comcast.

Why is the RDK so important? As a pre-integrated software bundle of shared source component, it significantly accelerates the launch of new hardware and software, including the deployment of next-generation services such as cloud-based functionality and enhanced guides.
